What Does It Measure?

Electroencephalography (EEG) is the measure of electrical activity in the brain. It measures the movements while you are awake and while you are sleeping. It also tracks the different stages of sleep.

Next, muscle activities are then measured, and the process is called electromyography (EMG). The muscle tone is different from when you are sleeping and when you are awake, and they also depend on the stages of sleep.

The eye movements are then tracked using electro-oculography (EOG). It measures REM or rapid eye movements which is the stage when we usually dream. It is during this time when the eyeballs make specific changes and movements.
